Museum Collections Officer (Jan 2027)

We are looking for a Museum Collections Officer to support artefact management, conservation works, and inventory maintenance at local museums.

• Up to $2,600 per month
• Mon - Fri, office hours
• Central/West area
• 1-year contract *Starting Jan 2027

Responsibilities:

• Manage artefact stores at museums including space planning, storage arrangements, equipment maintenance, and inventory registration.
• Coordinate registrar support for exhibitions, gallery rotations and building development projects, including artefact handling, packing/unpacking, and movement records.
• Manage incoming loans and temporary artefact holdings including condition checks, shipment coordination and regulatory inspections.
• Plan and coordinate the de-installation, transfer, return and re-installation of artefacts for gallery redevelopment, working closely with exhibition teams and external couriers.
• Coordinate in-house and outsourced conservation projects in collaboration with a Conservation Centre.
• Provide administrative and procurement support for the Division, including procurement documentation and other collection-related duties as assigned by Management.

Requirements:

• Possesses a Diploma in Arts Management with at least 1 year of relevant experience in the art and culture industry, especially in museums and galleries.
• Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Able to multi-task and work within tight project timelines.
