MECHANICAL FITTER

About the role

Akila Global Pte Ltd is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to carry out mechanical maintenance, dismantling, installation, replacement, assembly, and reconditioning works on automated cranes and related mechanical equipment at Singapore port terminals.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical dismantling, fitting, assembly, installation, and replacement works on crane components and related equipment.

• Assist with the inspection, removal, and replacement of bearings, rope sheaves, chains, sliding pads, clips, and other mechanical components.

• Carry out assigned mechanical works involving gantry cable reel reducer and motor assemblies, wheel-related components, and other equipment covered under the project contract.

• Assist with mechanical alignment, reinstatement, inspection, and functional testing to ensure equipment is properly installed and operating as required.

• Use hand tools, power tools, and relevant equipment safely and correctly.

• Follow approved work procedures, risk assessments, safe work practices, and site safety requirements.

• Coordinate with electrical technicians, hydraulic technicians, welders, lifting personnel, and supervisors to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.

• Identify and report mechanical defects, equipment damage, and unsafe working conditions to the supervisor.

• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.

About you

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical fitting, crane maintenance, or industrial mechanical maintenance.

• Previous work experience at Singapore port terminals.

• Practical experience in mechanical dismantling, fitting, assembly, alignment, and component replacement.

• Experience with automated cranes, gantry systems, or heavy industrial equipment is preferred.

• Able to read and understand relevant technical drawings and work instructions where required.

• Must possess the relevant Work at Height training certification or competency required for the assigned tasks, where applicable.

• Able to follow site safety procedures, risk assessments, and supervisors' instructions.

• Physically fit for the assigned duties and able to work safely in an industrial port environment.

• Willing to work at designated Singapore port terminal locations as required.

• Must meet applicable employment eligibility, site-access, and safety requirements.
